      Course Description
    This course provides the basic background for understanding and becoming familiar with the use of sealed radiation sources for use in radiation therapy. It includes a discussion of the various standard radioisotopes, calibration methods, dose calculations, treatment methods, safety and regulatory considerations, and applications to specific disease states. Knowledge of brachytherapy physics is required of all graduate students in the medical physics specialization of the biophysics program specializing in medical radiation therapy.
