WNY Nursing Workforce Collaborative – a community approach to develop, evaluate, and disseminate effective innovations to deal with the critical issues of the WNY nursing workforce shortage and related quality of care

“CCR is providing the technical expertise needed to collect and organize the data and is developing a web-based application”

Nurse community leaders from five area healthcare systems and two universities banded together to create the WNY Nursing Workforce Collaborative – a community approach to develop, evaluate, and disseminate effective innovations to deal with the critical issues of the WNY nursing workforce shortage and related quality of care.  The goal of the Collaborative is to provide a mechanism to implement and evaluate nursing innovations and evidence-based strategies to educate, employ, and retain a competent nursing workforce that improves the health outcomes of our community.

The Oishei Foundation has awarded the WNYNWC a grant in the amount of $100,000 to pursue three main objectives: 1) formally establish the WNY Nursing Workforce Collaborative, 2) develop a WNY Nursing Workforce Statistics and Quality of Care Evaluation Center, and 3) establish the process to test innovations by conducting a pilot research project focused on quality of nursing care.  CCR is providing the technical expertise needed to collect and organize the data and is developing a web-based application to disseminate results to nursing leaders within the community.
