At the International Workshop on Combinatorial Image Analysis, held in Brno, Czech Republic, our URGE To Compute team received the Best Student Paper Award for their presentation, "On Intersection Graphs of Convex Polygons".

The undergraduate team was comprised of Sean Kafer, Matthew Szczepankiewicz, and Joshua Terhaar.

Matt and Sean are students at UB. Josh is at Buffalo State. The work was conducted in our undergraduate research apprenticeship program "URGE to Compute" under the mentorship of Prof. Valentin Brimkov of the Mathematics Department at Buffalo State. [June 2014]

Urge To Compute is sponsored, in part, by the National Science Foundation. Students work with mentors and peers on mathematical research topics.
