Everyone says to “Network,” and we can help you understand what that looks like. Meet with a career counselor to discuss a networking plan. Remember: 80% of jobs are obtained through networking! So, to find a job, start by looking for people.

Here's how...

  • Create your 60 second introduction that describes your “dream job,” career interests and passions.
  • Talk to UB professors and staff members so they can suggest others you can meet and related professional organizations that you can join.
  • Attend workshops and networking events such as Career Conversations and NYC Road Trip.
  • Create a LinkedIn profile to search for other students, UB alumni and professionals in your field or major.
  • Set up Information Interviews with people you find in the UB Career Connector Network.
  • Ask your contacts to keep you posted on any job openings.
  • Use class projects as an opportunity to get involved with organizations and professionals in your field.
  • Update your family, friends, co-workers, coaches, employers, professors and advisors on your job search prospects.
