Free Tutoring

We facilitate greater academic success through convenient tutoring services, including free in-person tutoring for individuals and groups in our Academic Success Centers, as well as free online tutoring.

In-Person Tutoring

As a UB student, you get free, unlimited tutoring in many popular subjects.  No appointment is needed. Tutoring is available for individuals and for groups in the following subjects:  

  • Accounting
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Economics
  • English
  • Math
  • Physics

Tutoring will resume with the fall semester at our three locations:

  • Blake Academic Success Center - 167 Fillmore (Ellicott Complex)
  • Jones Academic Success Center - Clinton Hall Basement (Governors Complex)
  • Goodyear Academic Success Center - 141 Goodyear Hall (South Campus Halls)

Additional Help

Academic Assistants are also available in some residence halls, typically in our Living Learning Communities

Online Tutoring

Get help without leaving your room. All UB students get free, unlimited online tutoring in the following subjects:

  • Writing: Sunday-Thursday
  • Math: Sunday-Thursday
  • Chemistry:  Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Accounting: Monday & Tuesday 
  • Biology: Wednesday
  • physics, psychology, economics, computer science and nursing 
  • All courses will be available Sunday-Thursday, 7pm to 12pm

PLEASE NOTE: Tutoring is available only in writing and math during summer classes.

UB’s Center of Excellence in Writing offers numerous resources, including appointments to help you with your writing. Make an appointment

Become a Tutor

Interested in being a tutor? To qualify, you must have:

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • An “A” in the course you wish to tutor
  • Faculty recommendation
  • Effective communication skills

Applications will be available in the fall semester.
