Cable TV

When you live in official UB on-campus housing, you get free cable, free premium channels and an automatic subscription to HBO GO and MAX GO that lets you stream content.

Set Up Cable TV

To get cable TV in your room or apartment, you will need:

  • A cable-ready TV with a clear-QAM tuner.  Clear-QAM tuners are standard equipment on most TVs purchased after 2007. Consult your TV manufacturer’s documentation for more details on your TV’s specific configuration. If you find your TV does not have the clear-QAM tuner feature, digital converters can be purchased from most local and online electronics retailers.
  • A coaxial cable approximately 10 feet (3 meters) long. You will need a coaxial cable to connect from the “antenna” or “in” connection of your TV to the cable connection provided in your room or apartment. This cable should have male connectors at both ends.

Step 1: Connect your TV to the cable connection in your room or apartment using your coaxial cable.

Step 2. While TV configurations vary from model to model, in general TVs will need to have their input set to the “cable” or “antenna” option, and have their channels set to be auto-programmed or scanned in order to store all available channels.

Please bring your own coaxial cable to connect your TV to the cable connection in your room or apartment.

Questions or Problems?

In general, students should re-scan channels once a semester to pick up any new offerings or channel changes. Configuration and features vary between models. A good first step in troubleshooting is to always re-run your TV’s channel scan feature, and to consult your TV’s documentation, which is often available online.

Many Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are also answered on our channel provider’s (Campus Televideo) FAQ page.

If you are still having service issues after consulting your user manual documentation and the above FAQ, you can submit service requests with our channel provider, Campus Televideo.

Channel Guide

The campus cable network includes educational, entertainment, sports, music, news, local and premium channels. Campus Living has contracted with our cable provider, Campus Televideo, to offer a variety of channels.

Current Channel List

If a channel is appearing on the guide but not on your TV, we recommend doing a channel scan to pick up any new content offerings or channel changes.

HBO GO & MAX GO Premium Streaming Services
