Blanco selected for NIH Cardiac Study Section

Javier G. Blanco, Clin. Biochem., PhD, professor, pharmaceutical sciences, has accepted an invitation to serve in the Cardiac Contractility, Hypertrophy, and Failure Study Section (CCHF), Center for Scientific Review, for the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors. Membership on a study section represents a major commitment as well as a unique opportunity to contribute to the national biomedical research effort.

Blanco hopes to contribute to the scientific mission of the CCHF panel by applying his knowledge of cardio-oncology with emphasis on special populations, including survivors of pediatric cancers and persons with Down syndrome.    

His six-year term began July 1, 2020.
