Social Impact Fellowship Fund

Students studying in Jacobs Hall.

This fund supports students who are making a positive impact on our community and society.

The Social Impact Fellows program gives action-oriented MBA students the opportunity to solve today’s most pressing social challenges at a mission-driven organization.

Gifts to this fund provide summer stipends to a small group of MBA students, known as the Social Impact Fellows. The program brings together MBA students with students from the School of Social Work and College of Arts and Sciences for a fellowship at an organization, where the students work together to make an impact.

As Social Impact Fellows, students gain skills in strategic planning, creative problem-solving, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship (the ability to innovate within an organization), making them more competitive in the job market. Through coursework, site visits and field work, students learn how to identify, define and generate solutions for social challenges. Students also visit social enterprises, attend forums with guest speakers and share their experiences in facilitated discussions.

The Social Impact Fellows program is presented in collaboration with UB’s School of Social Work and the Blackstone LaunchPad at UB.
