James Joyce Collection Endowment Fund
Established for the preservation and augmentation of UB’s James Joyce Collection, this fund supports one of the world’s greatest literary treasures.
UB is renowned for holding the largest collection of James Joyce works in the world, honoring one of the twentieth century’s most influential writers, and distinguishing UB as the leading resource for Joyce scholarship.
The James Joyce Collection comprises more than 10,000 pages of the author’s working papers, notebooks, manuscripts, photographs, correspondence, portraits, publishing records, important memorabilia and ephemeral material, as well as Joyce’s private library and the complete body of significant Joyce criticism. Here, scholars can have a firsthand look at history—including Joyce’s handwritten drafts of Ulysses, perhaps the single most important English-language novel of the past 100 years.
The fund, established by Mrs. Constance W. Stafford, supports the purchase of work by and about Joyce, along with related manuscripts, correspondence or other related materials, at the discretion of the Curator of the Poetry/Rare Books Collection.
