Medical students who exemplify compassion and empathy receive awards through this fund.

Established by Erie County Medical Center Medical-Dental staff and alumni gifts, this fund provides an annual award to a University at Buffalo medical student who has demonstrated an exceptional level of caring for others.

The purpose of the Stephen J. Paolini, M.D. Memorial Fund is to encourage humanitarian concern for patients throughout a student’s training and professional career.

Dr. Paolini, who earned his medical degree from UB, was an associate clinical professor at UB and a physician at ECMC, where he served on numerous committees. He also served as a medical officer in the Air Force. He died in 1992.

In the world of medicine, there is always more that we can do. More physicians we can train. More discoveries we can make. More lives we can save. Now, even as we celebrate all we have recently achieved, we continue to look forward to the possibilities ahead. Bold ambitions require big investments—and generous support. Together, we will continue to build on our shared success and lead the way toward the future of medicine.
