Thank you

Throughout UB’s history, our commitment to the greater good has been a unifying constant. From our founding as a private medical college in 1846 through our evolution into a premier public research university for the 21st century, we have always sought to harness our ideas and innovations for the betterment of the world. And thanks to your generous support of our Boldly Buffalo campaign, we have been able to make a truly meaningful difference in the many communities we serve.

As you may know, earlier this year I announced the extension of our campaign goal to $1 billion. This bold new goal allows us to set our sights even higher so we can accelerate the pace of discovery, make our world-class education even more accessible and prepare our students to solve society’s most pressing problems.

As the public research university is increasingly called upon to answer the most complex questions of our time, it is imperative that we continue to propel UB forward. To that end, it is our ambition to situate UB among the Top 25 public research universities in the nation within this decade. As we celebrate the 175th anniversary of our university’s founding, the extension of our Boldly Buffalo campaign positions us to make an even more profound impact on our region, our state and our world—for the next 175 years, and beyond.

I hope that, in reading the following pages, you are as proud as I am of all that we have achieved together. On behalf of a deeply appreciative university community, thank you for your enduring support of our mission and vision of excellence.

Sincerely,

Daniel Alexander, MD ’99, BA ’95, and Gail J. Alexander, BS ’87 signatures.
