Advising Today`s Graduate Student Workshop

This workshop will provide faculty and postdoctoral scholars with an increased awareness of individual and group perspectives, experiences, and identities; and of structural and systemic causes that contribute to equity issues for underrepresented groups. Through the use of evidence-based peer to peer strategies, participants will learn how to advance an inclusive culture in their graduate program and department, and build stronger communities and teams. Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m.. This workshop is part of the collaborative research grant project AGEP Transformation Alliance: CIRTL AGEP – Improved Academic Climate for STEM Dissertators and Postdocs to Increase Interest in Faculty Careers. Participating Institutions include: Iowa State University (lead), Boston University, University of Maryland – College Park, Michigan State University, Cornell University, Northwestern University, University at Buffalo, Howard University, University of Georgia, University of Texas at Arlington. Funded by the NSF`s Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP).
