A Study of Hope: An Exploration into the Lives of Chronically Homeless Women
Presentation Purpose: Describe a proposal for a pilot study which explores the lives of chronically homeless women. The women participating in the study would be from the Matt Urban Housing First program for chronically homeless, or women living on the streets. Objectives: At the end of the session, the participants will be able toâ¦ 1. Federal definition of a chronically homeless woman 2. Understand the unique needs of chronically homeless women versus men 3. Envision how the results of the study will inform program development of a $5.6 million dollar construction project â Hope Gardens, an apartment building for chronically homeless women. Brief Presenter Biosketch: Karen Carman is co-founder of the Matt Urban Hope Center and has developed a number of programs related to homeless services including a 46 Unit Scattered site housing first model of supportive housing, the Hope Center â a one stop shop serving the homeless and those living in poverty, homeless outreach team and Hope Gardens.
