The Arts in Healthcare Clinical Practice Intensive is open to participants of all levels and backgrounds who wish to explore the benefits of art and creativity in the healthcare environment and would like to develop or deepen their arts in healthcare practice.

Based on the Center for the Arts, Arts in Healthcare Initiative and SHANDS Arts in Medicine program, this unique two-week program combines experiential learning with class-based lecture, discussions and workshops to provide complete arts in healthcare training experience.

One and two week options available:

Week #1 - includes class based lectures, discussions and workshops that form the basis of arts in healthcare practice

Week #2 - is an immersive clinical experience at two Buffalo area hospitals (Women & Children’s Hospital and Roswell Park Cancer Institute) building capability and skills required for work in the field. Those interested in attending only week 2 must have completed previous arts in healthcare training at UB or UF or have advanced arts in health experience.

The sessions will be led by Jill Sonke, Director of the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine. A well-respected expert and educator in the field, Ms. Sonke is past President of the Board of Directors of the Global Alliance for Arts & Health. Sessions will also be led by the current Artists in Residence of the UB Center for the Arts, Arts in Healthcare Initiative.

Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Total cost for the two week program is $1,150 ($1,040 if paid by June 14) for professionals and $950 ($800 if paid by June 14) for students. The cost for one week only is $700. Scholarships are also available.
