Urban Renewal Lecture
Urban Renewal Talk with Sarah Metcalf
In this presentation, Dr. Metcalf will discuss the role of social movements promoting local food and urban agriculture in revitalizing the city of Buffalo. In particular, she will share highlights from her civic engagement research with the Massachusetts Avenue Project (MAP), Wilson Street Urban Farm, and other local organizations involved in growing Buffalo's capacity for urban agriculture. This research involves development of a conceptual framework to situate the opportunities and challenges for urban agriculture in a Rust Belt city struggling with issues of poverty and vacancy.
