Cradle to Grave: Re-Appropriation, Obsolescence, and the Arts
Cradle to Grave: Re-Appropriation, Obsolescence, and the Arts, an exhibition sponsored by the Department of Visual Studies, will be opening on September 25th and running through October 19th. There will be an opening reception from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Lower Visual Studies Gallery, Center for the Arts, Room B45, on North Campus. All are welcome to attend. The exhibition will feature work created by UB and Buffalo community members who have used seemingly outdated art and technology artifacts in innovative works of art. The Department of Visual Studies has challenged these participants to pick from objects gathered by the Visual Studies staff to create new works that call into question practices concerning consumption, accumulation, and disposal in the face of mounting worldwide environmental concerns.
