Consumer Health Informatics: Developing a Community Engagement Approach to Foster Health Literacy in Young Adults with Disabilities
Dr. Anne Perrault, along with several of the project’s community research partners, will speak on the perceived areas of need for youth with disabilities in accessing, evaluating, and using health information. Possible resources available in the community that could be leveraged to teach and refine the health literacy skills of youth will also be addressed.
Dr. Perrault is assistant professor in the Department of Library and Information Studies, UB Graduate School of Education. She studies the information seeking behaviors of educators and librarians and the influence on teaching and learning practices. She is currently investigating how educators and service providers access and use resources to foster the health literacy of young adults. Dr. Perrault’s research was supported by 2011-12 Civic Engagement Research Fellowship.
