Great Big Sea is a Canadian folk-rock band from Newfoundland, best known for performing energetic rock interpretations of traditional Newfoundland folk songs including sea shanties, which draw from the island's 500-year-old Irish, Scottish, and French heritage. For over twenty years, Great Big Sea has maintained an unswerving commitment to their original ideals - a belief that a marriage of their own creativity and the joyous folk music of their home in Newfoundland would be an unbeatable combination
