Leaders at UB have a responsibility to increase awareness and knowledge of diversity-related issues on campus. It is important to create dialogue in our units to explore the various aspects of diversity that allow us to build an inclusive environment for employees and students. We need to enhance our cultural competency, which includes gaining the knowledge and skill set necessary to interact successfully and responsibly with people that have diverging cultures, experiences, viewpoints, and values. Join us for an interactive discussion about the importance of Diversity Leadership and the value it adds to the UB community. Learn what you can do as a leader to foster an inclusive atmosphere and how to value the differences of team members. Our speaker, Teresa Miller is UB’s first Vice Provost for Equity and Inclusion. The purpose of her office is to create the conditions for inclusiveness and equity among faculty, staff and students that are critical to ensuring excellence. Prior to this position, Miller enjoyed a distinguished career as a UB professor of law, specializing in immigration law, criminal procedure, and prisoner law.
