Clinical and Translational Research Center - UB Downtown

UB Clinical and Translational Research Center

UBís Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) comprises the top four floors of a collaboratively built eight-story facility in downtown Buffalo. Opened in 2012, the CTRC is helping Western New York attract top researchers in key health sciences fields while accelerating the translation of research discoveries into improved treatments for patients. The center includes several collaborative UB research and development facilities, the Jacobs Institute (which conducts research, development and training in vascular medicine) and the Toshiba Stroke & Vascular Research Center. The bottom four floors are home to the Gates Vascular Institute—Kaleida Healthís $173 million merger of its cardiac, stroke and vascular operations—and Buffalo General Medical Center's new emergency care unit. This project represents a groundbreaking collaboration between UB and one of its leading affiliated teaching hospitals. It is a major step in implementing the recommendations of a state commission on reform of health care delivery in the region.
