Anderson Gallery

Located in the University Heights neighborhood, the UB Anderson Gallery, the University at Buffalo’s museum and home to its museum studies program, is dedicated to collaboration between the university, cultural institutions and the community. The mission of the Gallery supports education, research, and maintenance of the university’s permanent collection. The museum fulfills its educational mission by presenting exhibitions and programs in support of the curriculum, and by providing study and research opportunities.

David K. Anderson began as a dealer and collector working out of his mother’s gallery in New York, the Martha Jackson Gallery. After relocating in Paris, he opened the Galerie Anderson-Mayer in 1962. After his mother’s death, he acquired her gallery and collection from the estate and renamed it the David Anderson Gallery. In 1991, Anderson relocated his gallery to Buffalo, in a state-of-the-art exhibition space that he created by converting an empty school.
