Rotary Field - South Campus
 | | |
Rotary Field
The university's first track-and-field facility, Rotary Field was supplanted by larger facilities on UB's North Campus, first by Kunz Stadium, and then UB Stadium. Rotary Field is now used as a practice field, and by clubs and community groups.
Namesake
University Council proceedings describe a plan to build an athletic field to permanently link the university with the Rotary Club of Buffalo. The facilty was to be made available for use by high school boys. Support from Rotarians was so great, it threatened to eclipse the general capital campaign. The field was formally openened in October 1992, by Chancellor Samuel P. Capen, during his inauguration. (University Archives)
