Nan Harvey Field
The UB Women's Softball field is named for Nan Harvey, former UB associate athletics director and long-standing supporter of collegiate sports. The pressbox was completed in 2003.
Namesake
Nan Harvey was a 1978 graduate of UB in physical education. She served the university in several capacities over thirty years, advancing from student athlete to coaching women's softball, basketball, and ultimately becoming associate athletics director and senior women's administrator. She was responsible for the day-to-day management of UB's intercollegiate athletics program and represented the university on all issues regarding women's athletics. She also was race director for the Linda Yalem memorial run.
Ms. Harvey also gave generously to UB's women's athletic programs. Former athletics director Bob Arkeilpane said he had never been more touched by a gesture in his life. "For someone who has already given so much of her time, energy, and enthusiasm to the University at Buffalo, this is the ultimate gift commitment," he said. "I don't know of anyone who is more committed to the success of UB athletics than Nan Harvey."
