Part of the Governors Complex Residence Halls, Clinton Hall provides student housing.
Namesake
Dewitt Clinton (1769-1828) served in the New York State legislature and the U.S. Senate. He was mayor of New York City from 1803 to 1815 and governor of New York State from 1817 to 1823 and again from 1825 to 1828. He was instrumental in the creation of the Erie Canal, also nicknamed "Clinton's Ditch." As the Federalist candidate, he lost the presidential election to James Madison in 1812.
