The Center for Tomorrow is dedicated to the late William C. Baird, the major contributor to its construction.

Frank Burkett Baird Frank Burkett Baird (1852-1939) was a philanthropist and successful industrialist who came to Buffalo in 1888. Wasting little time upon arrival, he spurred the construction of the Tonawanda Iron Company, developed the Hanna Furnace Company, and served on the board of the Pan American Exposition in 1901. He was active in the university, chairing the UB Council and acting as a member of the Board of the University Foundation.
