We offer numerous programs to support the talent pipeline in our region’s growing life sciences industry.
As part of UB — a premier research-intensive public university — we offer access to world-class faculty and resources. These include UB’s Center for Computational Research (CCR) and UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Materials Informatics (CMI).
The mission of UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (CBLS) is to foster economic development by facilitating innovations that drive the growth of life sciences and related high-tech industries.
Through translational research, funding, programming and education, we are facilitating development and enhancement of technology-based products and services through startups, existing firms and relocating businesses. The CBLS and its partners help companies find business solutions, accelerate new ideas and grow by connecting with university resources.
Our impact is measured primarily through the creation of private sector jobs in the life sciences industry with related secondary measures (e.g., increased company revenues, funding and company capital investments; as well as university jobs; grants; and intellectual property activity, such as disclosures, patents and licenses).
