Stem Cell Research

Samples being prepared for stem cell research.

By studying stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, we hope to provide therapies for cancer, diabetes, paralysis, neurodegenerative diseases, aging and many other diseases and conditions.

The Western New York Stem Cell Culture and Analysis Center (WNYSTEM) helps realize that promise — both in terms of fundamental stem cell research and the translational efforts that will to put that research to work.

A collaboration between the University at Buffalo and Roswell Park Cancer Institute — two research partners of UB’s New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (CBLS) — the goal of WNYSTEM is to promote and facilitate stem cell research and development throughout Buffalo Niagara, New York State and the world. To achieve this, WNYSTEM provides powerful technical and consultative resources for researchers seeking to generate, culture, analyze and test stem cells — both in vitro, and in therapeutic non-human models.
