The University at Buffalo cancelled all classes on March 2, 2018 due to inclement weather. As this cancellation on March 2 was not ordered by the New York State Governor’s Office, employees are required to charge leave accruals.
Only the New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations can officially declare that UB is closed and authorize employees to remain away from work without charge to leave accruals. Therefore, employees who did not report to work during the storm must take vacation time or otherwise charge their absence to appropriate leave accruals, even though the university cancelled classes and activities.
State employees who did not work any portion of 3/2/2018 will need to charge appropriate accruals to cover this absence. Please note: Classified employees must use the “Request Time Off” page in the system.
Non-Exempt Salaried Employees: If you did not work any portion of 3/2/2018, you will need to charge an appropriate accrual. Vacation, Personal, or Holiday time can be used for this absence.
Hourly Paid Employees: Please input your hours worked as you normally would for any time actually worked on 03/2/2018.
Exempt Employees: If you did not work any portion of 3/2/2018, you will need to charge an appropriate accrual. Vacation or Holiday time can be used for this absence.
