Resource Planning coordinates the review and approval process for all fees, including Broad-based Fees, University Fees, and Service Center Fees, in collaboration with Financial Management.
Broad-based fees are generally charged to all enrolled students to finance discrete activities that benefit the student body excluding those activities that are part of the core instructional program.
As part of the Annual Resource Planning process, we gather requests from units and collaborate with Student Life to set Broad-based Fee rates. These fees are charged to students to provide specific services and ensure that the university is accommodating their needs. The fee recommendations are submitted to SUNY for approval before implementation.
Take note of the significant milestones throughout the yearly broad-based fee process to assist with planning efforts within units (these dates coincide with the full Annual Resource Planning Process Calendar):
University and Service Center fees provide revenue to fund self-supporting programs.
As part of the Annual Resource Planning process, we gather summary information about fee requests made by units.
