UB has new contracts with new suppliers Airgas and Praxair Distribution for specialty gases and liquids, including helium. Beginning on February 1, 2017, all orders for new product must be placed with Airgas or Praxair.
This article was originally published in January 2017. It is updated to note that departments are now responsible for tracking any cylinders remaining with non-contract suppliers.
You may continue to use cylinders currently on hand from other vendors (e.g. Jackson Welding, Strate Welding), but you will not be able to order new cylinders from these suppliers effective February 1, 2017 because all orders for new product must be placed with Airgas or Praxair, as appropriate. Departments requiring these products must submit an eReq for a new purchase order.
In extenuating circumstances, exceptions will be considered. A Specialty Gas and Liquid Contract Exemption Justification request must be completed and submitted to Purchasing department for review. Please contact the buyer for additional information or if you need help.
