We recognize the great work that the employees of the University at Buffalo Police Department have performed during the third quarter of 2018.
On September 30, 2018, Dispatcher Herr took a phone call from a suicidal subject who claimed that he was going to kill himself by driving the wrong way on Sheridan Drive. The caller was distraught and initially refused to identify his location. Lt Bixby described Kristen’s empathy and professionalism managing the call while simultaneously dispatching officers as incredible. The change in demeanor exhibited by the caller from the start of his conversation with Kristen to the end, can be directly attributed to Kristen’s calm and engaging conversation.
For her professional, compassionate, and effective handling of a suicidal individual, it is our pleasure to recognize Dispatcher Kristen Herr as Employee of the 3rd Quarter 2018!
Beginning on November 15, 2017, Investigator Rehberg was contacted by the Amtrak Police and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office (ECDA) for assistance with investigating large scale fraud against Amtrak. Over the next ten months, Investigator Rehberg worked with the ECDA and University Computer Discipline Office to identify and track down multiple people who had been involved in this fraud. At the direction of the ECDA Fraud Division, Investigator Rehberg conducted interviews with the potential suspect and eleven other people who had direct knowledge of the ongoing fraud. He also had to track down IP address information for fraudulent transactions made from University Computing resources. The countless hours that Investigator Rehberg invested in this investigation led directly to a guilty plea from the suspect in Erie County Court and scheduled restitution of approximately $30,000 to Amtrak and Adirondack Trailways.
For his professionalism and tireless effort which led to the successful prosecution of this case, it is our pleasure to recognize Investigator DJ Rehberg as Employee of the 3rd Quarter 2018!
