State Employees Enroll in Flex Spending (FSA) by Nov. 6

State employees can enroll in a 2018 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) from Monday, October 2, 2017 through midnight, Monday, November 6, 2017.

About Flex Spending

The Flex Spending Account (FSA) is a voluntary, negotiated benefit for state employees. Flexible spending accounts give you a way to pay for your dependent care or health care expenses with pretax dollars. You decide how much to have taken out of your paycheck and put into your FSA account(s).

The 2017 plan year is January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

Who is Eligible?

All state of New York employees are eligible if they:

  • Are permanent employees or are expected to be on the payroll for the entire 2017 calendar year (10-month faculty are eligible if they meet the other criteria)
  • Are employed on an annual-salaried basis
  • Receive regular, biweekly paychecks
  • Work half-time or more on a regular schedule for a single agency
  • Are eligible to enroll in the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP)
  • Are designated Management/Confidential or represented by CSEA, GSEU, NYSCOPBA, PBANYS, PEF, UUP

GSEU employees are only eligible for the Dependent Care Advantage portion of FSA.

Information Needed To Enroll

To enroll you will need your name, address, phone number and:

  • NYS ID
  • Department ID
  • Negotiating unit
  • Amount of money you want set aside in your plan year
Lookup Your Employment Information

• On your pay advice or check stub

OR

• Log in with your UBITName and password to the SUNY Employee Portal 

    1. Select Human Resource Services

    2. Select View Paycheck

       • Your NYS ID is displayed below your name (N and 8 digits)

       • Your Negotiating Unit is displayed in Employee Information

       • Your department ID is listed under Agency
