State Employees Update 2017 Voluntary Retirement 403(b)

Create, change or cancel your payroll contributions for your voluntary retirement 403(b) savings plan by 12/20/16 to be in effect starting the first check in 2017. SUNY has announced that the 2017 maximum pretax contributions are the same as 2016.

About Voluntary Retirement Saving For State Employees

State University of New York (SUNY) provides optional savings opportunities (ORP) through the SUNY Voluntary Savings Plan. Pretax payroll deductions are put into your savings plan for withdrawal later, usually for retirement.

Make an Additional Catch-up Contribution For 50-Year-Olds and Older

Employees with 15 consecutive years or more of service  with the same employer may contribute up to an additional $3,000 per year ($15,000 lifetime max). Prior year contributions may limit this amount. Employees are eligible for both age 50 and 15 year catch-up contributions in the same year.
