Published March 5, 2018

The University at Buffalo cancelled all classes on March 2, 2018 due to inclement weather. As this cancellation on March 2 was not ordered by the New York State Governor’s Office, employees are required to charge leave accruals.

How To Record

Only the New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations can officially declare that UB is closed and authorize employees to remain away from work without charge to leave accruals. Therefore, employees who did not report to work during the storm must take vacation time or otherwise charge their absence to appropriate leave accruals, even though the university cancelled classes and activities.

For State Employees Using the SUNY Online Time and Attendance System

State employees who did not work any portion of 3/2/2018 will need to charge appropriate accruals to cover this absence. Please note: Classified employees must use the “Request Time Off” page in the system.

  1. Go to the SUNY HR portal
  2. Choose Buffalo Univ from the campus pull-down menu and click Login
  3. Enter your UBITName and password and click Login
  4. Click Time and Attendance in the Self Service menu
  5. Click Time and Attendance under Current
  6. Click on March 2
  7. If you are a Professional employee, enter 1 in the appropriate box based on your accruals and preferred usage of vacation or holiday time. Save request.
  8. If you are a Classified employee, enter 7.5 or 8 (depending on your work schedule) in the appropriate box based on your accruals and preferred usage of vacation, holiday or personal leave using the Request Time Off Page. Save and Submit request.
  9. Save Your Time Record.
