Accessibility Resources (AR) coordinates reasonable accommodations so that individuals with disabilities can access and benefit from all programs, services, and activities of the university. A variety of different accommodations are available to address the needs of people with disabilities at UB.

AR coordinates requests for accommodation from students. To get started with the process, please contact us to arrange an initial meeting. Meetings may take place in person, over the phone or online, as needed. If you require accommodations for the meeting, please let us know while making your appointment. AR staff uses a variety of information sources to help determine if a request for accommodation is reasonable. This information is usually provided at the initial meeting and/or during a follow-up period of review. Sources of information include but are not limited to:
- Your Self-Report: You are the first source of information about why an accommodation may be needed. Your narrative about your experience of disability, any barriers you encounter to learning and/or participation on campus, and past experience with effective and ineffective accommodations, is an important tool that helps AR staff determine if the accommodation is reasonable.
- Observation and Interaction: AR staff is experienced in working with students with disabilities. Using this experience, AR staff may be able to determine if your request is reasonable by making observations during interactions with you. These observations can help validate information in your self-report, further establishing your need for accommodation.
Documentation from Third Parties: AR may request documentation of your disability or a history of accommodation to help support your current request. Sources may include educational or medical records, reports and assessments created by health care providers, school psychologists, teachers, or the educational system. This includes information that shows a history of accommodation in education, such as an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan.

If AR determines that your request for accommodation is reasonable, the office will produce an Accommodation Memo to inform your Professors and Instructors of any accommodations they may need to know about. Please see our information for students to learn more about the next steps in the process.
