Loaner Equipment
Accessibility Resources has a limited supply of loaner equipment for temporary use by people with disabilities on campus. Equipment includes audio book players, assistive listening devices, note taking equipment, and Read-Write Gold software. Specific equipment needs for qualified students will be determined on a case-by-case basis and should be supported by the student's documentation of the need for reasonable accommodations. Accessibility Resources does not provide aids or equipment for personal study.
Wheelchairs
Accessibility Resources has one wheelchair that is available for one-day use on campus. Please contact Accessibility Resources to reserve the wheelchair. Anyone needing a wheelchair for more than one day will need to rent or purchase one. Wheelchair rentals are available from medical equipment and supply vendors, such as Buffalo Wheelchair (telephone (716) 675-6500).
A limited number of wheelchairs are available for Commencement and should be requested from the Guest Services desk inside the Coventry doors of Alumni Arena. See the Disabled Guests of Graduates webpage for more info.
Assistive Technology on Campus
Accessibility Resources provides a CCTV enlarger in Capen Library for student use. While Accessibility Resources does not administer the assistive technology stations on campus, we can provide information and training on using the workstations. Software on the stations includes JAWS (screen reader), Zoomtext (magnifier/screen reader), and Dragon Naturally Speaking (speech recognition), among others.
Questions or problems with campus assistive technology stations should be directed to CIT's helpdesk at (716) 645-3542. For more information, please go to CIT's Assistive Stations webpage
