Academic Opportunities
UB offers students an abundance of learning choices. With over 380 bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and professional degree programs, and myriad continuing education options, there are more academic opportunities than any other public institution in New York or New England. Our study abroad programs, internship opportunities, and special major programs (which can be individually customized) allow UB students to develop the education they want. | Learn More
Unique Degrees
Many students choose UB because we offer degrees and programs that can only be found here. Our combined degree programs offer many options that allow students to complete both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in only five years, total. The special major permits undergraduate students to design their own majors. UB also offers many interdisciplinary majors.
Learning Environment
At UB, we take pride in offering our students a challenging learning environment. Our commitment to cutting-edge research and diverse creative activity is part of our interdisciplinary approach to education. From our state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities to our experienced and committed faculty to our investment in integrated technology resources, students graduate from UB with degrees that count and experiences that prepare them for careers of the twenty-first century.
A Great Place for Gifted Students
Each year, UB invites 250 exceptional incoming freshmen to join the University Honors Program and receive merit-based scholarships annually for four years of undergraduate study. These students are the cream of a high-achieving crop, and many unique opportunities are open to them.
UB's Distinguished Honors Scholars Program provides a completely cost-free undergraduate education to as many as twenty top-scoring freshman applicants from across the nation each year. The Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship Program, the Advanced Honors Program, and the Honors Special Major in Liberal Arts are also available to our high-achieving honors students.
UB’s twenty-five-year tradition of undergraduate honors programming has been enhanced recently by a new Honors College for exceptional undergraduates, new “learning academies” in civic engagement and fundamental research, and a Discovery Seminar Program that offers a small-class experience for first- and second-year students, providing them with the opportunity to engage with a distinguished faculty member around a thought-provoking and challenging topic.
