Michael Thomas tapped to head women’s soccer

Following the 2007 retirement of longtime coach Jean-A. Tassy, Michael Thomas has been named head coach of the women’s soccer program.

Thomas comes to the Bulls after six years with the University of Denver Pioneers, where he was the assistant coach of a team that went 90-25-12 during his six seasons there, while making four NCAA tournament appearances. He also served as the technical adviser and staff coach for the Colorado Fusion Soccer Club and was a coach for the Olympic Development Program in 2006.

Within months of earning the UB head coaching position, Thomas signed his first three recruits. They include Angelina Claughton, a native of Alberta, Canada, who was named high school player of the year and soccer MVP in 2005, 2006 and 2007. She was also a member of the Canadian Provincial team.
