His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s visit to UB, September 18–20, was a momentous occasion that drew 30,000 people to his main address in UB Stadium and thousands more to an interfaith service in Alumni Arena. His message about true happiness was simple—yet infinitely complex. With compassion, the Dalai Lama said, the mind acquires perspective, even if the problems one faces are serious. “I believe the most important element for peace of mind is human compassion.” Furthermore, he described how he approaches the people he meets “one on one,” “as brothers and sisters” and always with a ready smile.
