Timothy J. Klein, BS ’84, has been named Engineer of the Year by the UB Engineering Alumni Association. CEO and cofounder of ATTO Technology in Amherst, NY, Klein was recognized for his entrepreneurial and technological acumen at UB Business Partners Day June 15.

Klein, along with David A. Snell, started ATTO (a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments) in UB’s technology incubator in 1988. Today Klein supports the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in many ways. For instance, 25 percent of his employees are UB alumni, many students in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences are taken on as interns, and company executives—including Klein—teach in the school’s Engineering Career Institute.
