Bob Tieckelmann, BS 76, a member of the UB Alumni Association board of directors; and Melissa Hubbard, EdM 04 & BA 01, hosted an alumni networking dinner April 6 at the Colorado Mine Steakhouse in Colonie, NY, in an effort to formally create an Albany chapter. Alumni reconnected with fellow classmates and helped plan for the new chapter.
More than 40 alumni gathered for a networking event February 9 at Mad River Bar and Grille. The Baltimore chapters new president, Jeremy LePosa, BS 03, was introduced and he addressed the group. Some great contacts were made and plans were established for future chapter events. Other alumni in attendance included Jerry Bash, PhD 71, MA 69 & BS 64; Edward G. Hill, MA 89 & BA 87; and Mary Ann Franklin, EdM 48.
More than 80 alumni, students and UB basketball fans from Cleveland and Buffalo headed to Harry Buffalo Restaurant in downtown Cleveland for a pregame party before the mens basketball team took on the Akron Zips in Quicken Loans Arena February 1. The group was then joined by approximately 200 enthusiastic UB students who made the trip to Cleveland for the Mid-American Conference Tournament action.
Alumni from the metropolitan New York City area converged on Iona College in New Rochelle, NY, for the ESPN College Basketball Bracketbuster Event on February 18. Among the 130 alumni on hand to cheer for the Bulls were Eric Katzman, BA 01, and his brother Lawrence Katzman, BA 97, along with Jonathan Zuckerberg, BS 02.

The UB wrestling team headed to Oklahoma City to compete in the NCAA Wrestling Championships March 16. Alumni, friends and family geared up for the tournament at a pre-match party held at Coachs Restaurant. Former members of the UB wrestling team were on hand to lend their support, including Joseph Muscarella, BS 93; and Jeffrey Wheeler, BS 78, a 1995 UB Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame inductee.
Joanne Ryczek, wife of Ed Ryczek, BS 71, sits behind her daughter, Debbie DiCiccio; Debbies husband, Sal, and their twin daughters, Emilia and Anna (who may not be a baseball fan!). The family participated in UB Alumni Day at the Yankees-Diamondbacks exhibition baseball game April 1 in Chase Field.
About 40 UB alumni, family and friends attended an exhibition baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees on April 1 in Chase Field. The UB group was seated in the left field picnic pavilion, where the UB Alumni Association banner was prominently displayed. The group included Debbie and Sal DiCiccio with their twins, Emilia and Anna, who attended with Debbies parents, Ed and Joanne Ryczek. Ed, BS 71, is president of the Phoenix chapter.
UB alumni from Raleigh and Charlotte were treated to an afternoon of exciting NHL hockey as the Buffalo Sabres took on the Carolina Hurricanes in an overtime shootout at the RBC Center February 12. More than 40 alumni attended the pregame festivities at the Carolina Ale House. They included Alicia Haugh, BS 87; M. Bud Nelson, JD 93, PhD 88 & MA 85; and Julie Sobotka, BA 00.

Approximately 25 UB alumni employees, along with their friends and families, joined the UB Alumni Association board of directors February 4 in Alumni Arena for a pregame networking event and to watch the UB mens basketball team take on the Miami (OH) RedHawks. Sylvia Dlugokinski-Plenz, MS 86 & BA 76; Kerri Page, EdM 00; and Lucy Mastrandrea, MD 99 & PhD 99, were on hand to cheer on the Bulls.
UB was well represented among the 900 attendees at the all-SUNY reception held April 5 in the Rayburn House Office Building. SUNY Chancellor John R. Ryan spoke briefly to alumni from all 64 SUNY schools, including 93 UB alumni and family members.
Three weeks earlier, a sellout crowd of 50 attended a pregame reception, then watched the Buffalo Sabres take on the Washington Capitals March 14 in the Verizon Center. Among those participating were Dennis Black, JD 81, vice president for student affairs; and Barbara Ricotta, dean of student affairs, who were in the city for a conference.

Twenty-four students, alumni and friends attended the Hong Kong chapters ninth annual send-off and reunion party July 15 at the Golden Jumbo Restaurant in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was a joyous gathering, as former and new students met and exchanged valuable information, hopefully leading to lifetime relationships.
