Extreme Events a Focus Area for UB

“Extreme Events: Mitigation and Response” is one of 10 areas of strategic strength of the University at Buffalo identified as part of the UB 2020 strategic planning process initiated by President John B. Simpson.

As part of the effort, faculty planning committees are developing plans to further develop each strength with the goal of elevating UB to the ranks of the nation's top public research universities.

With its emphasis on multidisciplinary research, UB is extremely well positioned to provide a cross-disciplinary platform focusing on preparedness and response to extreme events, whether they be earthquakes, hurricanes, flu pandemics or terrorist attacks.

Realizing its potential in each strategic strength will help UB better accomplish its mission of improving the quality of life for the people of New York State, the nation and the world.
