There are some 1,900 UB employees who are also alumni of the university, and a new chapter has been formed specifically for this group. Jay Friedman, Ed.M. ’00 & B.A. ’86, assistant director for conferences and special events at UB and former UB Alumni Association national board member, was elected president of the group. Barbara Mierzwa, B.A. ’67, associate dean for the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, is chair of the program committee; Kristin E.M. Riemer, M.A. ’01, public relations and development officer for UB Art Galleries, is chair of the events committee; and Donna Malecki, Ed.M. ’03, lead programmer analyst for university development, is chair of the communication committee. The newest chapter began with two men’s basketball-related events in Alumni Arena in February and March. A campus beautification project is also in the offing.
