Jan Sadlak, Ph.D. '88
Sadlak is a director of UNESCO-CEPES and a representative of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in Romania. UNESCO seeks to promote higher education among the member states of the Europe Region, specifically Europe, North American and Israel. UNESCO-CEPES, the European Center for Higher Education, focuses on the nations of Central and Eastern Europe. A director at UNESCO-CEPES since September 1999, Sadlak was previously chief of the section for higher education policy and reform for UNESCO in Paris. Outside UNESCO, Sadlak serves as a special advisor and member of the executive committee for the International Association of University Presidents and as a member of the advisory committee for the Salzburg Seminar Universities Project in Salzburg, Austria. Widely published in the areas of higher education and science policy, he has been named an Honorific Member of the Black Sea University Foundation and holds the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Babe-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He resides in Bucharest.
