Byers

Barbara A. Byers has joined the Office of Alumni Relations as an assistant director. In this position, she is responsible for developing and implementing the communication efforts on behalf of the Office of Alumni Relations and the UB Alumni Association, directing all print, electronic and web-based communication pieces. She also serves as liaison to several committees to formulate or strengthen communication opportunities within the Division of University Advancement and the university proper to facilitate the inclusion of alumni in university and alumni association marketing pieces.

Byers previously held public relations positions at Independent Health, Artpark and the YMCA of Greater Buffalo. Most recently, she served as senior public relations specialist for the Kaleida Health System. She graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in communications, and holds a master’s certificate in public relations management from Buffalo State College. She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is the membership chairperson for the Buffalo/Niagara chapter of PRSA, as well as a member of the organization’s board of directors.
