Turkey

Members of the UB delegation visiting Turkey in November were received warmly by their counterparts at the Turkish universities. During the trip, UB signed an agreement with Istanbul Technical University that provides for student/faculty exchange programs between the two universities. Also, UB is in the process of developing agreements with Bogazici University and Istanbul University.

Members of the UB delegation included President William R. Greiner and his wife, Carol; Stephen Dunnett, Ph.D. ’77, vice provost for international education; Joseph Hindrawan, M.B.A. ’92, associate vice provost for international education; Michael Constantinou, professor and chair of UB’s Department of Civil and Structural Engineering; Barbara von Wahlde, associate vice president for University Libraries and John Thomas, J.D. ’76, professor and dean of UB’s School of Management. Also joining the delegation were Laura Jones Godwin, Ed.M. ’00, Alumni Relations program coordinator and her husband, Jerry, an advisor in UB’s Office of Student Advising Services.

In honor of the visiting delegation, the Turkey chapter of the UB Alumni Association held a dinner party at Chefs Restaurant in Istanbul. Zeynep Uluer, M.A. ’93 & B.A. ’91, chapter president, helped to host the event, along with Zeynep Anisoglu, B.F.A. ’85, marketing director of the Parkorman Group, which owns the restaurant. U.S. Consul General David Arnett attended, making the evening more special. It was a wonderful time, with old friends gathered together and sharing their memories of life in Buffalo, as well as making new acquaintances with the Buffalo connection.
