Steven R. Keeler, B.A. 1977

  Keeler
Steven R. Keeler, B.A. 1977, has received the Society of Broadcast Engineers' (SBE) National Educator of the Year Award. Keeler was cited for bringing innovative and progressive improvements to the television, radio and music production programs at Cayuga Community College, where he is professor of telecommunications and broadcasting.

Keeler has helped to create courses and curricula that will ensure that students develop into media preprofessionals by giving them the hands-on training they will need as employees of the future. Currently, Keeler is working on a program entitled "The Documentary Process Project," a web-based initiative that pairs Cayuga student producers with a BBC producer based in London for television documentary productions.

Keeler received the 2000 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and was a finalist for the 2001 David R. Pierce Faculty Technology Award, the latter sponsored by Microsoft. He was one of only ten members from across the United States to be honored as finalists for the Pierce Award.

Keeler resides in Marcellus, NY.
