With a country and western theme, warm weather and winning programs, Homecoming 2001 drew more than a thousand people to the alumni chuck wagon or traditional tent, decorated for fall and featuring campfire cuisine, sampled here by Charles Swanekamp, M.B.A. ’80 & J.D. ’79. Some attendees, like Al Tower, B.S. ’53, sported cowboy hats, while others watched a western show, listened to the country band “Lissy K. and the Revolvers” or went horseback riding (Gerry Kelly, M.B.A. ’80). For alumni with kids (like Andrew Hurley, B.A. ’85, seen here with sons Ryan, on the left, and Jacob), there was plenty to choose from, including a petting farm, a simulated bull ride and the Buffalo Zoomobile. Homecoming royalty Kevin McCarthy and Tarin Bready made an appearance, as did Victoria S. Bull and the UB Marching Band. Later, loyal alumni cheered the Bulls, even as they bowed to Marshall, 34-14.
