People of Note: Terry Gross
In celebration of Gross's accomplishments-including more than 5,000 Fresh Air interviews, WHYY of Philadelphia recently feted her at the University of Pennsylvania. Gross, the interviewer, became the interviewee, fielding questions from NPR's Ira Glass, as well as those from university students in the audience. Currently, Fresh Air goes out to 330 NPR stations with 2.9 million listeners in the United States, Europe and Japan. In the Buffalo area, it can be heard Monday through Thursday at 7 p.m. on WBFO (88.7 FM), and on Sunday at 7 a.m. in its Fresh Air/Weekend edition. Fresh Air has its roots at WBFO in "This Is Radio," an experimental program of interviews, live events coverage and music features that Gross produced and hosted for WBFO in the 1970s. Gross resides in Philadelphia with her husband, Francis. |
