David E. Eagan, J.D. 1982, has joined the New York office of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP as a partner. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and cross-border and domestic corporate finance and securities laws matters. He also advises senior management and company counsel with respect to a broad range of issues, including securities disclosure, corporate governance and other corporate and securities laws matters. He lives in Wainscott, NY.

Scott Murray, Ph.D. 1982, has been selected as the recipient of the 2000 Leadership Award by the Association of VA Psychologist Leaders. He is the network behavioral VA health-care line director of the VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York, which includes five VA medical centers and 23 community-based outpatient clinics. He supervises a staff of more than 500, and provides care to some 20,000 veterans. He was recognized for his leadership in restructuring inpatient and outpatient mental health services, improving quality, assuring availability of mental health services at all access points and developing additional revenue streams to support patient care.

Donna I. Evans, B.A. 1983, was awarded a master of arts degree in pastoral ministry by Christ the King Seminary during its recent commencement exercises in East Aurora, NY. She is the owner of Complete Creative Marketing in Williamsville, NY, which specializes in developing and implementing advertising and public relations campaigns. She is also developer of the BuffaloWorks job database network, as well as a member of the New Millennium Group and a lay leader at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Buffalo, NY.

Richard J. Lynch, D.D.S. 1983 & B.A. 1979, has been elected treasurer of the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association. He practices in Williamsville, NY, where he resides.

Michael Arnold, J.D. 1984 & B.S. 1981, has been appointed by the Perinton Town Board to fill a vacancy on the Perinton Town Bench. A general practitioner in the law office of Place & Arnold in Fairport, NY, he serves as a Chapter Seven Bankruptcy Trustee through the federal court system for Western New York and is the village attorney for Mount Morris, NY. He also serves as the vice president of the Fairport Merchants Association, lectures frequently at continuing legal education seminars, is past leader of the Perinton Republican Committee and is a 1999 William E. McKnight Award recipient for volunteer legal services.

Robert T. Durkin, B.A. 1985, has graduated with highest distinction and has been awarded an M.A. in national security and strategic studies by the United States Naval War College at Newport, RI. He is one of 24 officers from throughout the U.S. Armed Forces selected for an additional year of advanced warfighting training at the Marine Corps University in Quantico, VA.

Nicholas Rodo, D.D.S. 1985 & B.A. 1979, was one of a select group of dentists nationwide to receive the Academy of General Dentistry's prestigious fellowship award during the academy's annual meeting July 22 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was recognized as a leader who is committed to lifelong learning and excellence in patient care. The fellowship award symbolizes the professional responsibility of general dentists to remain current in their profession. He has a private practice in West Seneca, NY. He lives in Orchard Park, NY, with his wife, Elly, and three children.

Rose Sweeney, M.B.A. 1985 & B.S. 1984, has been named compensation manager, human resources, at Rich Products Corporation of Buffalo, NY, the nation's largest privately owned frozen-food manufacturer. Her responsibilities include salary administration and incentive programs. She also advises and assists with compensation problems and issues. Before her appointment at Rich Products, she was manager, salaried compensation and personnel, at Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America Ltd. in Amherst, NY. A resident of Tonawanda, NY, she is a member of World at Work and the Society of Human Resources Management.

John Daly, B.S. 1986, has joined Trautman Associates, a Western New York architectural, engineering, planning and interior design firm as a partner. He will serve as the director of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing department. He is a nationally recognized champion of sustainable "green building" design and is certified as a New York State professional engineer and as a plumbing engineer. He has also participated in MIT-sponsored international design symposiums, exploring the applications of new technologies such as displacement ventilation, daylight harvesting, raised floor systems, fuel cells, indoor air quality and active climate facades.

Michael D. Ehlers, PMCRT 1986 & D.D.S. 1985, was elected president of the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association. A resident of Boston, NY, he practices general dentistry with offices in Holland, West Seneca and Boston.

Janet T. Ihlenfeld, Ph.D. 1986 & M.S. 1981, professor of nursing in the undergraduate and graduate programs at D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY, received the 2000 American Association of University Professors' Scholar Award. She was cited for her research on social support among nurses, professional publications including instructors' manuals in child health nursing, and grant awards. She is also a consultant to the master of science in nursing program in clinical systems management at Regents College in Albany, NY. She lives in Buffalo.

Vince Lobuzzetta, M.B.A. 1986 & B.S. 1984, has been promoted to application development manager, information systems, at Rich Products Corporation of Buffalo, NY, the nation's largest privately owned frozen-food manufacturer. He is responsible for new information system development for manufacturing, logistics and research and development. Prior to his promotion, he was information technology manager for non-dairy products. Previous to that, he was senior programmer analyst at Rochester Telephone in Rochester, NY, where he resides.

Daniel Marinaro, M.Arch. 1986, is a partner in the architectural firm K2M Architects PC, a firm he and two fellow UB graduates formed. The firm, located in Clarence, NY, specializes in the digital graphics side of the industry. K2M utilizes powerful Macintosh computers and cutting-edge software to create highly sophisticated models and designs. The firm focuses on the design aspects of architecture, and the staff is committed to technology. He lives in Tonawanda, NY.

Renee B. Bush, M.L.S. 1987, received the 2000 Distinguished Member Award from the Biomedical and Life Sciences Division of the Special Libraries Association at the organization's annual conference in June in Philadelphia; she was cited for her intelligent and resourceful leadership and professionalism. She was also recognized for her exceptional contribution to the library profession, the Biomedical and Life Sciences Division and her colleagues.

Lisa DeLorme, B.A. 1987, is an attorney with Southern California Edison Company in Los Angeles, CA, where she currently resides.

Stephen S. Korniczky, J.D. 1987, a partner with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP, was elected president of the San Diego, CA, Intellectual Property Law Association; his term began in September 2000. His legal expertise focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling clients on intellectual property licensing and portfolio development strategies. His clients include computer, communications, Internet, semiconductor, automotive, medical device and biotechnology companies. He resides in San Diego.

Ann Penwarden, M.L.S. 1987, has been promoted to assistant director, systems and extension services for the ETS Libraries at Monroe Community College. She lives in Fairport, NY.

Andrew Zaref, B.S. 1987, has joined KPMG LLP, the professional services firm, as a partner in its New Media/Internet practice. The practice serves start-up and established Internet companies and major corporations that wish to create an Internet presence.

He will provide assurance services to new media, technology, software, advertising, e-commerce, media and other Internet-related companies. He is also coinstructor in residence at the St. John's University master of business arts program. He lives in Cedar Grove, NJ, with his wife and two children.

Richard Bernecki, M.B.A. 1988, B.S. 1979 & B.F.A. 1976, has been named chief financial officer at Trocaire College in Buffalo, NY, where he resides.

Sharon Quinn Costello, M.B.A. 1988, has joined Massachusetts Mutual Life's Buffalo, NY, office as long-term care specialist. She lives in Buffalo.

Elizabeth J. Fitzsimmons, Ed.M. 1988 & B.A. 1986, has been promoted to assistant vice president of First Niagara Bank in Lockport, NY. She resides in Lakeview, NY.

Robert F. Kasprzak, M.Arch. 1988 & B.P.S. 1986, is a partner in the firm K2M Architects PC, a firm he and two fellow UB graduates formed. Miller, M.B.A. 1988, has joined the firm of Lumsden & McCormick LLP, certified public accountants and advisors, as a senior accountant, where she will be responsible for auditing, accounting, and tax services to commercial businesses, not-for-profit organizations and individuals. She resides in Williamsville, NY.

David M. Schoen, M.L.S. 1988 & B.A. 1986, has been named director of libraries by Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. He lives in Blasdell, NY.

Ren Vasiliev, M.A. 1988, is one of 15 scholars who have been selected by the New York State Archives Partnership Trust to receive grants to use records in the New York State Archives to examine a variety of historical subjects. Associate professor of geography at the SUNY College at Geneseo, Vasiliev will research "The Placenames of New York State."

Xingwu Wang, Ph.D. 1988, is a recipient of the 2000 American Society of Engineering Education's Outstanding Educator Award. Wang is one of only 12 society members from four-year institutions nationwide to receive the award this year. He is professor of electrical engineering at Alfred University.

David Canfield, B.A. 1989, has been named development officer for the South Florida and Midwest regions of Altman Development Corporation of Boca Raton, FL, a leading developer of luxury apartment home communities. With this promotion, he assumes increased responsibility and authority in his development duties, including site analysis and acquisition, project design and entitlements, and construction management for new Altman properties. A licensed real estate broker in North Carolina, he earned a master's degree in real estate from the University of Southern California in 1992. He and his wife reside in Boca Raton.

Barbara Connolly, M.S. 1989, has been named dean of academic services at Monroe Community College's Damon City Campus in downtown Rochester, NY, where she will oversee and provide leadership for the academic programs and courses taught at the Damon Campus, including new curriculum and course proposals. She lives in Brighton, NY.

Gary A. Goodman, B.A. 1989, has started a residency in the department of internal medicine at the Nassau County Medical Center campus in East Meadow, NY, for SUNY at Stony Brook in Stony Brook, NY. After his residency, he aspires to enter a critical care role in invasive cardiology or emergency medicine. Following 15 years in emergency medical services as a paramedic, including five years with the Nassau County Police Department, he hopes to enter a teaching position to medically train other paramedics.
